Base Maps

Base Map in Dielmo Maps is a fundamental layer that provides the necessary geographic context for visualizing other geospatial data. Users can choose from a variety of base map options to meet their specific visualization and analysis needs. These options include existing predefined maps as well as map web services provided by various sources.

Available Options:

  1. Existing Predefined Maps: In this section, you can choose from the base maps you have previously configured. Dielmo Maps offers a selection of predefined base maps that cover different styles and features. These maps are ready to use and provide a basic visualization of the world, including features such as roads, bodies of water, and administrative boundaries. You can select the base map that best suits your needs from this section.
  2. OGC WMS (Web Map Service): Users can access Web Map Services (WMS) compatible with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard. These services allow the visualization of base maps and other geospatial data over the internet, providing a wide range of options for customizing the visualization according to user needs.
  3. OGC WMTS (Web Map Tile Service): Similar to WMS services, Web Map Tile Services (WMTS) are also compatible with the OGC standard and offer an efficient way to visualize base maps and other geospatial data in tile format.
  4. OpenStreetMap Server: OpenStreetMap is a collaborative online mapping project that provides geospatial data from around the world. Users can use OpenStreetMap map servers as a base map in Dielmo Maps to access detailed and up-to-date data on roads, trails, buildings, and more.
  5. XYZ Map Server: XYZ map servers are a flexible option for accessing custom base maps and specific geospatial data. Users can use these servers to upload their own data sets or access base maps from third-party sources that are not available from other sources.

Base Map Selection:

Users can select the desired base map from the base map selection wizard in Dielmo Maps. From here, they can explore the available options and choose the base map that best suits their visualization and geospatial analysis needs.

The base map in Dielmo Maps is an essential part of the geospatial data visualization experience, providing the necessary geographic context to understand and analyze information effectively. With a variety of options available, users can customize their visualization experience according to their preferences and specific requirements.
